Gold Coast workshop empowers men's mental health

Gold Coast United Football Club is hosting a Wellness Warriors Gathering at the Club's grounds on June 7 to support men's mental health.

Designed for men aged 18 and over, the gathering promises to be a transformative experience, combining expert-led discussions, physical activity, peer connection, and long-term support. It’s a chance for men from all walks of life to come together, reflect, and recharge over the King’s Birthday long weekend.

For $60 per person, attendees will gain access to a rich program of activities and benefits:

  • Insight from leading health professionals on the pillars of men’s wellness
  • Inspirational stories from former professional sportsmen who’ve navigated life’s highs and lows
  • Expert presentations on crucial topics including nutrition, fitness, financial wellbeing, and eSafety
  • Morning tea, BBQ lunch, and afternoon tea to fuel the body while feeding the soul
  • Interactive Warrior Games, with a trophy awarded at the closing conference dinner
  • Free 12-month membership in the Wellness Warriors Club, offering ongoing support and connection

The event also includes a Wellness Expo, where attendees can explore resources from a variety of mental health and wellness organisations. Optional post-gathering experiences will be available for those wishing to extend their journey with others in the group.

The Wellness Warriors Gathering is spearheaded by Dr Jeff Kemp OAM, a Board Director at Gold Coast United FC with over 40 years of experience as an educator and guidance counsellor. Jeff has developed and is implementing a mental health and wellness program within the club, and the Gathering is an extension of this work.

In 2012, Jeff was awarded a Churchill Fellowship for his international research into re-engaging disengaged youth. In 2021, he was honoured with an Order of Australia Medal for his services to youth and youth sport. Now, at the request of club members, Jeff is turning his focus to a new challenge: providing meaningful, lasting support for men’s mental health.

The Wellness Warriors Gathering is open to all men, from across Australia. It has received support from local politicians including Councillors May Mitchell and Gail ONeill and Michael Crandon MP, State member for Coomera.
